Hello to one and all. I hope everyone is surviving through the heat. Try to stay safe and cool during this crazy weather! Please submit you ideas for our Anniversary party next month!
?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
We've received word from our Starfleet ships in the Denver area that all of their crew members are fine and accounted for. Fortunately, none chose to attend the midnight premier. A few had friends who did attend, and they are fine. The ships in the Denver area have found a way to assist in this tragedy by donating blood ( if you are able) to the American Red Cross in that area. The Red Cross has issued a plea for blood donations as their supply has run low.
For those Starfleet members who are too far away to give blood in Aurora, CO, we are asking you, if able, to donate blood at your local Red Cross in honor of those who were killed or injured. Your donation will eventually help save someone else's life.
Captain Coates, our Ops and Recruiting officer went on an away mission to Ba-Con, a convention dedicated to geeks everywhere. Geekdom encompasses, among other things, Science Fiction, Comic Books, Computers, Gaming, Steampunk and Bacon! Among the guests at the convention was Jason Carter, well known for his role of Marcus Cole, a Ranger on Babylon 5. Captain Coates, who has studied the ways of the Jedi, gave him a few pointers on the correct way to wield a lightsaber. It's always good to learn new skills. The great storm of 2012, which left nearly a million people without power for up to a week, did affect the attendance at this year's con. But since the hotel did have power and A/C is was a welcome refuge from the heat for many.
Thursday the exhibit of the Shuttle "Enterprise" opened at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.
A group from the national Museum of the Air force made a trip to the Johnson Space Center to look and prepare for the transfer of the new Shuttle Trainer which is to be sent and set up for display this summer.
Seems that Pluto, our "non-planet" is full of surprises. The Hubble telescope has recently discovered a Fifth moon orbiting this dwarf planet. For now it is being called P5 but will be named in the near future, along with P4. The other three moons are Charon, Nix and Hydra. In 2015 NASA'S New Horizons Space Craft will do a flyby of Pluto, and will find that this part of the solar system is a much busier neighborhood than originally thought.

And now the mystery of the Vice Admiral's sub can be revealed! It seems that UPS inadvertently delivered a package to her home with an address label that said USS Columbus NCC 72401 pasted over the original label for the USS COLUMBUS 762. The package contained some O-rings, which was somewhat of a mystery. After doing some research, it was discovered that the USS Columbus 762 is an active duty Naval Submarine, Los Angeles Class. She jokingly said that they must be sending her parts to build a sub in her backyard. The package was supposed to have gone to a Navel Supply Distribution place in Cleveland. The O-rings were packed up , UPS was called to pick up the package and deliver it to the right place.
***So the story of the Vice Admiral's sub is fictional. Some of the crew members couldn't resist an opportunity to have a little fun with it. **The images used in this edition are for decorative purposes only and are the property of their respective owners.

It seems that the cloaking device given to us by a friendly Klingon is working just fine. Thus far no one has been able to detect the Vice Admiral's secret sub. All is well.![]() |

Who knows what causes someone to do something so terrible to other people? At this time we don't yet know why this young man chose to kill and injure people who simply wanted to enjoy the new Batman movie and to have a fun night out with family or friends. We've received word from our Starfleet ships in the Denver area that all of their crew members are fine and accounted for. Tips from the Chief Medical Officer
![]() |
The first half of 2012 has been the hottest year in recorded history. The second half has started out very hot as well. This means that due to heat alerts people will have to limit their time outdoors. The sun is one of the normal ways to get vitamin D, which is necessary for your body to function. Alternate sources of this vitamin can be acquired through supplements, dairy products and leafy green vegetables. It's also very important to drink plenty of fluids, preferably water, and use a good sunblock when outdoors. Children's skin is especially susceptible to sun damage. Please take the necessary precautions to protect your family during these hot summer days.
